We interview all potential Ashton Sixth Form College applicants and look forward to meeting you at your forthcoming interview.
You will receive details of your interview shortly after you have submitted your online application form. You will then be invited to attend your interview at the college to discuss your application with a member of college staff. Your interview is an opportunity to discuss your course or subject choices, get advice about entry requirements and for us to find out more about you.

What should I expect from the interview?
Our interviews are informal discussions between you and a college advisor. The main aim of the interview is to make sure we have identified the right course(s) for you, so expect to speak about your choices. If you are not sure what you would like to study, do not worry, we are here to help and will have careers advisors on hand. We will also ask about your time at school, extra-curricular activities and plans for the future.
What do I do if I can't make my interview time?
Please ring the college Admissions Team on 0161 330 2330 ext 222 to let us know if you can't make the time or date that you have been given for your interview. As long as we know in advance, we will be able to reschedule your interview for you and this should not affect your place at the college.
What should I bring with me to my interview?
See the Interview Checklist above for a list of what to bring with you.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code for your interview but we do recommend that you dress as you would for any interview. Your school uniform is also absolutely fine to wear, so don't worry if you have to come straight from school.
Can a parent/carer attend with me?
You are welcome to bring somebody, such as a parent, carer or family member, with you to support you with your interview. However, we will mainly want to speak to you and hear your views about your college choices.
Can I change my course or subjects at interview?
Yes, courses and subjects can be changed at your interview. You will need to discuss this with your interviewer so that we can update your application. If you wish to make changes after your interview please contact the Admissions Team.
What happens after the interview?
Provided you have a successful interview and a satisfactory attendance record at school, you will then be offered a place at the College for September 2017. Your course or subject choices will only be confirmed once you have received your GCSE results in August 2017.
What if I miss my interview?
It is very important that you let us know in advance if possible. However, we do understand that sometimes missing your interview appointment is unavoidable. If you miss your interview, please ring Admissions to explain the reasons for this. If you have a genuine reason, we will be able to reschedule your interview for you and this will not affect your place at the college.
If you are scheduled for an XL interview you can download the personal statement template here.
Please complete this and bring it with you to your interview.
