The certificate will guide and assess development of knowledge and skills relating to early learning and Childcare workforces. To complete the certificate you must gain a minimum of 35 credits, 31 of which are gained from the mandatory units and a further four from the optional units.
Who is this course for?
This qualification is suitable for those learners, in paid or voluntary employment in an early years education and care role with children from birth to 5 years.
Why study an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care?
You can progress to the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator. The college also offers a Foundation Degree in Education and a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies. On completion of a Foundation Degree, it is possible to then ‘top up’ to gain a full BA (Hons) degree.
- It is recommended that you hold or are working towards a Functional Skills level 2 or a GCSE Grade C or above in English and maths.
- You must be in either paid or voluntary employment in an early years setting for a minimum of 1 full day per week.
- It is recommended that you have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in an early years setting prior to starting the course.
