IT and Learning Resources
The IT and Learning Resources Department at Ashton Sixth Form College provides all students with a range of services and facilities to support and enhance your learning experience.
We have over 13,000 printed and electronic resources covering all subject areas, access to drop-in PCs and laptops, and a range of study environments.
As well as books and eBooks we have a wide range of online subscription resources to assist with your studies. Access to our collection is through Discover, our library portal. This can be accessed via the student VLE.
We provide colour printing, scanning and photocopying facilities.
We have three sites across the College with experienced and friendly staff who will be happy to help with your enquiries.
The Library (GH2.5)
This is where you can find all of our physical resources including books, journals and equipment. These items can be issued or returned at our self-service kiosk using your student ID card; you can also pay fines and renew your loans using this machine. There are several drop-in PCs and a variety of solo and group study areas, including a bookable Group Room (GH2.6) where students can work together on assignments. There is also a dedicated classroom where trained Library staff deliver Subject Inductions and Study Skills Sessions on topics such as Referencing and Evaluating Information.
Learning Commons (MB2.15)
A flexible learning space with drop-in desktop PCs and laptops, and areas for group and individual study. Charging points are available for phone/tablet/laptop use. You will also find the Higher Education Study Area (Pembroke Suite) at the back of this room.
Learning Zone (ST1.1)
This Centre has laptops and areas for group and individual study. Charging points are available for phone/tablet/laptop use. Please note that this room is unstaffed and students must swipe the door with their ID card to gain entry. We keep a record of all users and monitor the room using CCTV. Please note, sometimes this room is utilised as a classroom, and also during exams and holidays this Centre will be closed.
