GCSE Maths

The course covers topics in:
- Handling Data - averages, different types of graphs, questionnaires and surveys
- Number – percentages, ratio, decimals and fractions
- Algebra – simplifying algebraic expressions and solving equations
- Shape and space – angles, area, volume
The exam consists of two papers, one non - calculator paper and one calculator paper.
The GCSE Maths course involves 30 weeks of intense study covering topics on Handling Data, Number, Algebra and Shape and Space.
Day: Wednesday OR Thursday evening, 5.30pm - 8.30pm.
There are two groups - you will be in the Wednesday or Thursday group.
Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone wishing to gain a grade 4 (equivalent to a grade C) or above in their GCSE Mathematics. Linear exam papers (covering calculator and non calculator) at foundation level will be taken at the end of the course (May/June).
Why study a GCSE in Maths?
GCSE Maths is a requirement for many FE and HE courses and can open up so many more opportunities for you in your career.
Course Length
- 1-year route - September 2025 to June 2026
- 2-year route: September 2025 to June 2027 - with an opportunity of taking the GCSE examination in June 2025.
Entry requirements
Once you have enrolled for maths, you will need to complete a short maths assessment. The assessment is a tool to help us determine the best course for your level of skill. It also lets us know if you need any support with your studies. Depending on the outcome, you will be enrolled on the one year or two year route.
You will be willing to work hard, attend each week, complete set work (including online tasks), revise thoroughly for exams, and enjoy the experience of learning.
Cost
Free for those who have not yet achieved a grade 9-4 (A*-C) in GCSE Maths, have been a UK/EU resident for the last three years, and live in Greater Manchester.
