Information for Parents and Carers

Here at ASFC our careers program is designed to integrate the career development skills outlined in the CDI's Career Development Framework. Its aim is to assist all students in planning their careers, ensuring they leave us equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for the next stage of their career journey.

We provide students with a wide range of opportunities to:

Build self-awareness: Through various activities and reflection exercises, students will develop a deeper understanding of their own skills, strengths, and interests, helping them make informed decisions about higher education and career paths. This process encourages students to identify what excites them and how their abilities align with future opportunities.
Research career options and higher education goals: Students are given access to resources and tools to research different career paths and higher education options. This includes attending career fairs, using career exploration platforms, and engaging in discussions with professionals in various fields, allowing students to make well-informed choices about their future.
Engage with employers, alumni, universities, and apprenticeship providers: We facilitate direct interaction with employers, alumni, university representatives, and apprenticeship providers. This helps students build networks, learn about industry expectations, and gain first-hand insights into various career and educational pathways through guest speakers, workshops, and networking events.
Understand labour market trends: Students are provided with current and relevant labor market information, helping them understand trends, industry demands, and the skills required in different sectors. This knowledge empowers them to make informed decisions that reflect the evolving job market and anticipate future opportunities.
Develop and identify employability skills: Our program helps students identify and hone essential employability skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. By participating in practical workshops, mock interviews, and real-world experiences, students gain the confidence to effectively showcase these skills during job applications, university interviews, and work experience opportunities.
Explore extracurricular enrichment: We encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities beyond the curriculum, such as volunteering, sports, leadership roles, and creative projects. These opportunities help students develop a wide range of transferable skills, enhance their personal growth, and enrich their overall educational experience, supporting their personal and professional development.

Through these varied opportunities, we aim to prepare students for a successful transition into higher education and the workforce, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in their future endeavors.
