Course Description

A clear knowledge and understanding of IT is crucial in our changing society. The digital world has transformed in recent years and it continues to do so with no signs of slowing down. We now access information in digital formats and for most, apps have become part of our everyday lives. This full time IT course provides a well rounded look at the different topics of the IT world, including Networking and Support, Systems and Information Management, as well as Creative Platforms and Design.

In today’s technology filled world, this course will provide you with a solid knowledge of Information and Communication Technology. This course will allow you to progress on to a diverse range of career pathways within the digital sector. You will gain an understanding of how IT systems work and are managed, an overview of cyber security and digital incident management, along with how mobile apps and digital storage such as the cloud. 

Learners will study these mandatory units:

• Unit 1: Information Technology Systems (synoptic)

• Unit 2: Creating Systems to Manage Information

• Unit 3: Using Social Media in Business.

• Unit 4: Programming

• Unit 9: IT Project Management

• Unit 11: Cyber Security and Incident Management

• Unit 14: IT Service Delivery

 

This qualification also requires the completion of 6 optional units:

• Unit 6: Website Development.

• Unit 8: Computer Game Development

• Unit 12: IT Technical support and Management

• Unit 15: Customising and Integrating Apps

• Unit 16: Cloud Storage and Collaboration Tools

• Unit 17: Digital 2D and 2D Graphics

You will develop specific technical skills in the use of Microsoft Access, optimise content, format and features of social media and make connections between the application of technologies, procedures, outcomes and solutions to resolve IT problems.

You will develop web based content, integrate applications and develop IT support skills to problem solve issues.

The IT, software and computer services sub-sector is the largest creative industries sub-sector. It makes up approximately 1million (43.2 per cent) of the sectors’ filled jobs. From 2019 to 2022, in percentage terms, employment in the IT, software and computer services sub-sector increased by 33.5 per cent, the largest increase of any creative sub-sector.
