Education and Early Years T Level

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 This course is equivalent to 3 A Levels, blending industry placements with college-based learning. The unique approach to T Level courses ensures you gain access to quality teaching and an incredible amount of real life experience.

On this T Level course you will develop an understanding of:

  • The education and childcare sector from ages 0 to 19
  • Child development
  • How to support children and young people's education
  • Safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing
  • Understanding and managing behaviour
  • Observing and assessing children and young people
  • Equality and diversity
  • Special educational needs and disability
  • English as an additional language
  • Working with parents, carers and wider families
  • Working with agencies and services that support children, families and carers
  • Reflective practice and other forms of professional development

Your course will cover a wide range of academic and practical tasks. During this you will study a range of topics including.

Year 1 = 2 core exams on across 12 elements including: Safeguarding, health and safety and well-being, child development, Special educational needs and disability and English as an additional language.

Occupational specialist Early Years educator

Core skills of literacy, numeracy and digital embedded

Year 2 = assignment based assessments including planning activities for children, individual learning plans and presentations. Observing children and planning activities to meet the needs of children.

Assessment in placement of core competencies when working in the Education sector. Later assessed through practical exams.

This is a highly academic course where you will develop a wide range of knowledge and skills. You will undertake 750 hours of Vocational placement working within an early years team, gaining confidence and developing essential skills to start your career in Education.

Primary Teaching, working in the SEN sector, social work, Degree in Childhood studies, play therapy, Early Years Educator, Higher Level apprenticeship.

A range of externally assessed methods including: exams, practical tasks within your placement setting, completion of an employer set project and assessment of competency with essential skills.

A whole range of academic and fun enrichment will be planned during your 2 years at college. Recent enrichment include: Disney land Paris, Chester Zoo, Alton towers, cinema, Cathedral, Buddhist centre, Jewish Museum, in class baking, guest speakers, visit from children from a local nursery and outstanding placements.
