College Chaplain

15 hours, Term Time Only + 5 days, Permanent Contract

Grade 6 SCP 11 – 14 £26,097 - £28,549 (pro-rated)

Ashton Sixth Form College seeks to appoint an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate Chaplain to lead and manage its well-established multi-faith chaplaincy service that has been in place for many years. The role of chaplain is an essential part of the ethos of the college and an important aspect of college life.

This opportunity has arisen due to the retirement of the current post holder.

The college has a dedicated space for multi faith worship and is well used on a daily basis. Wudu/ritual wash facilities are integral to the area which has been designed by our own chaplaincy users. There is an open-door policy with agreed terms of use which the chaplain manages, in order to ensure diverse but fair participation, by individuals and groups for worship.

The chaplain works flexibly part time (15 hours, term time only plus 5 additional days) to meet the needs of staff/students/parents who may visit during the day and/or some evenings. There is a requirement to plan and organise activities to recognise annual events, for example Armistice Day and Ramadan, not only to mark them but to share knowledge and understanding across the college community about their significance.

The successful candidate will be someone who has had experience of working in a multi-faith context.

We need an “ideas” person who can work creatively, yet sensitively, with matters of spirituality. We seek a chaplain able to arrange interesting and engaging activities that enlighten student/staff interest in the areas of faith and belief.

If you have vision and drive for excellence and are excited to pick up and further develop where our retiring chaplain has taken us, then we want to hear from you.
