An inspirational and motivating return

10 September 2012

German language students at Ashton Sixth Form College were surprised to see some familiar faces when returning from the summer break. Four former students who are about to embark on their journey through university had returned to offer their support, advice and guidance.

Adam Freeman (UCLAN – German), Hannah Lambert (Salford – French and German), Laura Howarth (Warwick – English and German Literature) and Catherine Lane (Manchester University – English Literature and German) were on hand to give the new second years an insight into their experiences awaiting them during their final year of college.

The students explained what to expect in the final year of college study, including what students should do to achieve the best possible grades in German. The most popular tip was to spend time understanding grammar and vocabulary, a key skill when studying at A-Level and beyond.

Second year German students Jessica Gledhill and Jade Bardsley found the visit helpful and motivating; “On the whole their experiences, tips and advice were helpful and inspired us to try our hardest in the final year, to achieve what we deserve.”

Many thanks to the former students for giving up their own free time to offer support to their peers, we all wish you the best of luck during your time at university.
