Media and Film students visit Countdown

10 October 2017

Media students visited the set of the TV show Countdown at Media City, Salford to watch a live recording of the show.

Countdown is produced by ITV Studios and was the first show to be aired on Channel 4, beginning in 1982. The show has reached an incredible 79 series with more than 6,500 episodes, to date.

Full-time Media Production, A-Level Film Studies and A-Level Media Studies students explored Media City, home to the BBC, ITV and a vast range of production companies and businesses. By visiting the studio, students were able to experience a media production company first hand. Within the studio they got to see the incredible amount of people and hard work that goes in to working on a live show, inspiring them to think about the range of careers available to them within the media industry. The Digital Technology and Multimedia department work to show their students the possibility of a multitude of careers within the creative industries, while providing them with the skills to succeed.

Students are pictured with Rachel Riley, co-presenter of the show, who studied Mathematics at the University of Oxford.
