National Careers and Apprenticeship Week

To mark National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship Week, the Careers team at Ashton Sixth Form College ran a number of sessions, drop-ins and talks.

In conjunction with Realising Aspirations, the Careers Team delivered a 'What Makes You Successful' workshop. The Year 10 Realising Aspirations programme runs thorughout the year and this particular sessions focussed on thinking creatively about future careers and how students can set themselves apart.

On Tuesday, the Staffordshire University 'Great Minds' tour bus visit the college. The bus remained on campus all day providing acces to the cinema, 3D virtual reality headsets, a replica student union café and student ambassadors. The bus showcased the range of courses available to students after college, particularly at Staffordshire University.

Throughout the week tutorials focussed on Careers and apprenticeships, including degree apprenticeships. Apprenticeship Ambassadors from the Greater Manchester Learner Providers Network came into college to help students with apprenticeship applications. While other students also be began to prepare for the UCAS Convention and started their Student Finance applications. 

Each day, the college Careers Team also advertised summer apprenticeship vacancies and promoted various careers and apprenticeship events including the MMU Apprentice Open Evening & Jobs Fair. The Careers Team also met with individual students across National Careers and Apprenticeship week, to discuss opportunities, CVs and applications.
