The Apprentice Academy visited Ashton Sixth Form College to run an apprenticeship workshop afternoon.

For those students who want to progress on to an apprenticeship after completing their studies at college, the competition is strong. The Apprentice Academy is a training provider based in Manchester. Working with young people, they provide advice and guidance to allow students to succeed on an apprenticeship route. The in-college workshop looked at how students can find out about the extensive range of apprenticeships opportunities available, application processes and how to stand out.

During the Easter holidays, students have gone on to attend further sessions with the Apprentice Academy including interview training sessions. Here students will gain advice and tips on how to complete a successful interview and secure apprenticeship places.

The Ashton Sixth Form College Careers and Guidance Team regularly invite apprenticeship representatives such as The Apprentice Academy, to give students the opportunity to pursue a career that begins with an apprenticeship. The advantage of gaining practical experience with a company, while gaining a training qualification alongside is proving to be an incredible popular and beneficial route to many students.

Previous Ashton Sixth Form College students have gone on to apprenticeships with:

  • Gazprom Energy in HR
  • Grant Thronton Accountants
  • Barclays PLC
  • Children 4 Most as a Nursery Nurse
  • Airbus Degree Apprenticeship
  • Nissan
  • IKEA
  • GMP
  • Rolls Royce
