GM Police visit tutorials to talk knife crime
Greater Manchester Police visited Ashton Sixth Form College to speak to students during their tutorials.
Tutorials occur on a weekly basis and are an opportunity for students to meet with their senior tutor and speak through a range of issues, concerns and opportunities. Senior Tutors become a key figure of support for students throughout their time at college. Students also learn about key areas that are important to their progression. Various guest speakers ensure they are aware of the positive contribution they can make to society.
All first year students were visited by representatives from Greater Manchester Police across two days. The Senior Officers and Police Officers spoke about a range of issues that are currently affecting our local communities. These included knife crime, drugs, antisocial behaviour and more.
Working with students, they developed their understanding of the risks and serious offences people commit in our community, as well as how students can ensure they do not make such mistakes.
The officers also brought along a police dog to demonstrate the strength and abilities of the animals used throughout the forces.
