Dr Toni Wood visits Criminology

2 December 2021

Criminology students at Ashton Sixth Form College welcomed Dr Wood to the lecture theatre.

Dr Toni Wood is a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Salford.

The lecture focused on her main research interests: the health and wellbeing of prisoners and prison staff.

Students studying Criminology at Ashton explore the criminal justice system, covering elements of psychology, law and sociology. The lecture allowed them to focus on a specific element of the criminal justice system and gave them a unique look at the range of roles available to them after they complete their studies.

Dr Toni Wood is also a Principal Investigator on the Autism and the Criminal Justice System project and coordinator for the Criminal Justice Hub at the University, providing a unique perspective on crime in the UK.

As part of their course, students in the Psychology and Criminology department regularly welcome guest speakers and lecturers to the department, allowing them to see what studying at university could be like.
