Alumni and Coronation Street star joins Waterloo Road

Former Ashton Sixth Form College student Ryan Clayton is set to join the BBC's Waterloo Road.

In 2018, Ryan joined the cast of Coronation Street, playing the role of Josh Tucker on the cobbles. His hard-hitting story line raised incredible awareness and shone an important light on a difficult topic.

Despite never acting before, Ryan studied Drama and Theatre at the college. It was in 2018, Ryan completed his studies in Drama and Theatre, Acting, and Media Studies at Ashton Sixth Form College. His teachers recognised his talent and determination, and have continued to watch his growing success in the industry. He also studied at Longdendale High School.

After college, he gained a place at ALRA, the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts. At drama school, he gained a 2:1 in Acting (BA Hons), allowing him to develop his skills and experience in the acting world.

Since completing his time on Coronation Street, Ryan has now joined the cast of Waterloo Road. The show first aired in 2006 attracting millions of weekly viewers. Ryan will be playing Mike, alongside actors Angela Griffin and Adam Thomas who featured in the original series.
