Tameside Council Neighbourhood Services visit Criminology

3 March 2022

Criminology students welcomed Kevin Garside to the Lecture Theatre.

Kevin is the Integrated Neighbourhood Services Manager for Tameside Council. His knowledge of the local area and crime-related services and interventions, provides a unique insight in the areas surrounding the college.

Students are studying Criminology as part of a mixed study programme at Ashton. The course gives students a broad understanding of the criminal justice system from crime scene to courtroom. Kevin encouraged students to look at the local area from an alternative perspective and how crime reduction works in Tameside.

In particular he spoke abut the community and multi-agency response to crime and anti-social behaviour reduction.

The visit forms part of a set of week long activities and speakers to the Social Sciences department.
