Performing Arts alumni stars in upcoming film!

23 October 2023

Jason Patel studied at Drama and Theatre studies at Ashton Sixth Form College. Jason left ASFC in 2014 and progressed on to achieve a Bachelor's degree in American Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College and also studied at The University of the Arts in Philadephia!

Jason's career is a mix of acting and music, both in which he has been very successful with since leaving college. One of Jason's recent shows was The Jungle Book at The Oldham Colisuem, where he played the main character Mowgli. He has also starred in many other performances, including Peter Pan at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton and in Benny & The Greycats at the Arcolo in London.

His most recent work is 'Unicorns' which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Jason plays Aysha in the film, a British Indian drag queen living a double life, with Luke, who is played by Ben Hardy. Ben has starred in many popular films and TV shows, such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Eastenders!

This is a huge achievement for Jason in his career! He is extremely passionate about the underlying meaning of Unicorns, and wants to bring forward the representation he felt he didn't have when he was younger.

Along with his acting career, Jason's musical career is also taking off as he has recently released a new single, 'Choclafield'.

Congratulations to Jason for Unicorns, we are excited to see what else he achieves in the future!
