Theology Conference November 2023

11 December 2023

Ashton Sixth Form College recently hosted The XL Academy Theology Conference for Year 10 students in Tameside and Rochdale.

We welcomed students from Rayner Stephens High School, Longdendale High School, St Damian's RC Science College, Fairfield High School and West Hill High School from Tameside and also Hollingworth Academy, Cardinal Langley RC High School and Holy Family High School from Rochdale.

Students had a fully packed day of exploring degrees in Theology and participating in academic sessions.

As part of the day, Dr Aled Thomas from the University of Leeds delivered a keynote talk to students. Dr Aled is a specialist in new and minority religions, particularly Scientology.

Ashton Sixth Form College are proud to be the host institution for The Goldsmiths' Sutherland Centre for Philosophy and World Religions. This is in partnership with Pembroke College, University of Oxford and is the regional centre of excellence for the teaching of Philosophy, Religions and related subjects.

Students had a fantastic day, learning more about Theology and Religions from Dr Aled, and also the possibilities they could achieve at Ashton Sixth Form College through The XL Academy and our university preparation programme, Realising Aspirations.
