Fire-fighters, police officers, soldiers, sailors, air crew, prison officers, civil servants, teachers and nurses - just some of the vital careers in the public services. This two year course offers you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the public services and prepare you for your career in the uniformed public services.

Career - In this unit you will explain different careers in the uniformed services and then explore a chosen uniformed service. You will also identify your own goals and targets to achieve entry to a uniformed service. You will then prepare a CV, personal profile or application and take part in a real or simulated interview. Following this, you will evaluate your performance and suggest areas for development.

Fitness - In this unit you will develop an understanding of health and wellbeing that contribute to physical fitness. You will identify your own level of physical fitness, then plan and participate in a training programme to develop aspects of your physical fitness to meet entry standards of a uniformed service. You will also evaluate the effectiveness of the training programme by reviewing the content.

Leadership - In this unit you will investigate different styles of leadership whilst identifying your own. You must then demonstrate your leadership skills by planning and preparing a team task using communication and feedback. You will then evaluate your own skills in the team task to develop your own leadership skills.
