Ernst and Young visit Business students

25 January 2018

Ernst and Young visited Ashton Sixth Form College's Accounting, Business and Economics students this week to talk about their EY Foundation Smart Futures Programme.

The aim of the programme is a paid work experience opportunity that allows young people to gain invaluable skills in one of the largest professional firms in the world. The business industry is more competitive than ever and this opportunity to work with Ernst and Young is instrumental in allowing Ashton Sixth Form College’s students to set themselves apart.

In the summer of last year, three of Ashton Sixth Form College’s students completed the programme following the competitive application process. Those students were able to network with established professionals in the industry. As part of a team they experienced workshops, problem-solving and skill development, followed by hands on experience on the placement at Ernst and Young.

During the visit, current students who had previously completed the programme spoke of their experience with Ernst and Young.

Ernst and Young LLP is one of the largest professional services firms in the world. In 2016, the company reached an employment headcount of 231,000 people, with a combined global revenue reaching $29.6 billion (EY.com, June 2017).
