Celebrating Chinese New Year

5 February 2019

Ashton Sixth Form College have been celebrating Chinese New Year 2019.

Chinese New Year is a traditional festival celebrating the beginning of the Lunar New Year.

The date of the new year is different from year to year often known as the Spring Festival.

2019 marks the 'year of the pig'. The pig is the twelfth animal in the Chinese zodiac and the cycle repeats every 12 years. Traditionally pigs are a sign of wealth and good fortune!

The Food Market honoured the occasion with a range of Chinese dishes on offer to students and staff including hoi sin noodles, chicken curry, spring rolls, prawn crackers and more!
