Sport alumni awarded High Achievers Scholarship at university

18 November 2019

Katie Hardman has successfully received the High Achievers Scholarship for 2019/2020 at Edge Hill University.

Katie studied at Mossley Hollins High School before beginning her full-time vocational course in Sport at Ashton Sixth Form College in 2017. Katie achieved the highest grades on her course of D*D*D*. In 2019 she progressed on to Edge Hill University to study Physical Education and School Sport.

It was at Edge Hill University during the first few weeks of her studies, where her achievements were further recognised. The High Achievers Scholarship will provide Katie with £1000 towards her studies that will significantly help her to fund her degree and university experience.

Outside of college, Katie has been competing in Karate for a number of years, attending World Championships representing England as well as competitions across the region. She has shown tremendous commitment to sport both in her studies through placements and learning, as well as in her own time competitively.

After receiving the scholarship, Katie contacted her former Sport teacher to share the news. Vicky Clough, Head of Sport and Public Services said,

Your hardwork and determination last year has really paid off, you thoroughly deserve this and we all know that you will make an outstanding PE teacher in the future!
