Games Development and 3D Design and Technology students at Ashton Sixth Form College were visited by Luke Thompson, Co-Founder, Director and Lead Programmer at SIGTRAP Games.
Art Foundation students from Ashton Sixth Form College travelled to Blackpool last week to conduct primary research for their man-made structure brief. Blackpool beach itself runs along seven miles of sand. The iconic Blackpool Tower, which is over 120 years old, stands centre stage at over 150 metres.
Artist Ian Johns, visited Fine Art students at Ashton Sixth Form College last week for a two day workshop. Students explored the skills required in oil painting, learning valuable techniques and tips from a professional working artist.
Alumni and Art and Design student, Rheanna Sorby, returned to Ashton Sixth Form College to speak to current students about her experience within the art industry. Rheanna currently owns her own printing company, Pig & Fig, specialising in kitchen and home. In 2013, Rheanna completed her studies in Textiles, Biology, Mathematics and Psychology. She then went on to study Textiles with Surface Design at the University of Huddersfield.
Art and Design students who started at Ashton Sixth Form College this September, explored Manchester city centre to conduct primary research.
Art and Design students took their sketchbooks outside of the classroom for Enrichment Day. They were able to explore the incredible works from around the globe within the Manchester Art Gallery, as well as the artwork right on their doorstep across the city centre.
The Art Exhibition returned to Ashton Sixth Form College with outstanding results. The work of the Art and Design students was on display from 3D Design and Technology, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography and Textiles. Students from the college produced outstanding creative work the college is extremely proud of.
Art and Design students from all courses visited the Manchester Metropolitan University degree show yesterday. By attending the Degree Show, students were able to explore some of the creations on offer at degree level standard, taking inspiration to progress in their own work as they leave to excel in creative careers.
Graphic Design students won a logo design competition for the International Opticians Organisation. Elaine Grisdale from the IOO presented the prize the rewarded the innovation and creative vision of Ashton Sixth Form College's Students.
